On 29th July Windows 10 is launched and my current windows 8.1 PC is already asking me to reserve this free update. I have seen a couple of people asking if this game will be compatible with the new version of Windows but haven't seen a response.I know the tech teams have been busy sorting the iOS blue dot problem and rightly so but have they started tests on Windows 10? What is the impact will we loose months of progress and have to start again if we update our operating systems. As it is free I would guess most people on Window 7, 8 or 8.1 will do the update.Should we do it or hold fire?

All versions of Windows has a Compatibility mode: Runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. If you are thinking about upgrading to Windows 10, check out How to run Windows 10 on a virtual machine on Cnet. This will let you try it out before upgrading. I am not sure what the limitations on what the virtual machine with Windows 10, but someone could try it and change the Compatibility mode to one that is support. I did see some info on Windows 9 but they ditched the whole thing and went with 10.

I seen somewhere that Windows is coming out with a new version every year but that was probably a rumor. Rosiebvt,I had seen and read an article earlier this year or late last year that Microsoft was introducing a new operating system, ie Windows 10. They have had this system being tested, etc for quite sometime and are getting ready to offer it to windows 7 and above operating systems for free beginning July 29. By 'reserving' it for installation on your system, you have a year to make that decision. I figure I will wait and see what others are saying before making the decision to install and upgrade, if you will. I also read in that article that they were introducing/replacing internet explorer with another browser of their design. They have info on the Microsoft website about windows 10 and you can sign up for notifications if you choose.

That is how I got the notification and was able to sign up for Windows 10 and learn the release date.I had Vista on a previous computer system and I never was a fan. ApolloIf you are ready now to upgrade your pc then I would do it before 10 comes out. Windows 8.1 takes a bit of getting used to with its 'charms' and no start menu but you get used to it. So long as you upgrade within 1 year windows 10 will be free. From what I can gather windows 10 will bring back the start menu and there will be a new internet browser. All the reviews are saying this is one of the best tested operating systems but if I was buying I would wait a bit just to make sure. When XP was released it was supposed to get rid of the 'blue screen of death's but it didn't - although it was less often. For those that are on windows 8 or 8.1 - well Milleneum comes to mind and windows 10 is looking attractive. It never really took off.I very much consider myself a newbie with only 7 months of MC under my belt but I don't want to lose my progress.

I just hope that the mods or devs put something on the forum telling us we can upgrade and how. All my other apps can just be reinstalled this would be the only rolling game that could be a problem.Still we have a year to make up our minds and over a month before launch.Just swung into level 41 and ever hopeful of keep moving forward albeit very slowly now.Deb. Just looked on the website and they're doing a little too much automatic updating of my computer for me to be happy. I want to be the one controlling what happens on my system and when. That, and I didn't see anything in the initial pages that says what's new and improved about this version. Maybe I just didn't look far enough.

Anyway, since it's 'really free' and 'you can get the update without reserving it now', I'm going to wait and see what happens. I'm happy running 8.1 with mostly the classic desktop, so don't really see a need to upgrade until it becomes necessary.
